I, personally, would look into using wonderflex. you can cut it into “plates” and shape them to make them more like tubes for a really realistic effect. for and easier and cheaper approach, get a stocking, cut the foot part, sew it up around your hands to make it more like a glove, and paint it to look robotic/mechanical.
