I'm going to buy a pair of faux leather, finger less gloves, but it's the wrong colour, and I was wondering if there's a specific way to paint them to the colour I want without the paint or whatever chipping.

I’d actually use dye instead of paint! You can find it at any craft store near the fabric paint, sometimes places like walmart carry it too.
